Chiropractic for my child? Why? She doesn't have back or neck pain.
As a chiropractor, I see parents who understand the importance of regular medical exams for their child's ears, eyes, nose, and throat. But most parents overlook routine spinal check-ups. In fact, a spinal check-up could be the most important medical attention your child will ever receive.
Many things contribute to your child's health - diet, exercise, sleep, emotional support, and good parenting. Also vital - a healthy and properly functioning nervous system.
A major component of health is the communication between brain and body. This link controls the growth, repair, and function of every tissue and organ in your child's body. The spinal cord sends messages from the brain throughout the body via billions of nerves. Interference (nerve pressure or irritation) places the body, both adults and children's, in an unnatural state. This can lead to decreased immune function and sickness.
A child's body can be subjected to many spinal traumas - from the birthing process itself, to the usual tumbles and rolls all children take as they start to walk and play. Many of these falls go undetected. Unfortunately, although immediate symptoms may not be apparent, spinal misalignments can occur and impact your child's health into adulthood.
A check up is painless and easy. Most children enjoy the interaction and leave straighter and taller. Proper spinal care is very, very important to your child's health.
